Another year has passed,
a fresh start beckons.
Together, let us continue
this lifelong journey;
For in this world, we are
strangers – not citizens
Weary travelers heading
home to rest, finally.
Onward, let us march
denying this land’s allure,
For where we are headed,
there is only true joy;
Happiness beyond measure,
bliss that is pure -
What this world can
offer, fire will soon destroy.
Yes, that is what will
happen to this earth,
For others, are enduring
myth, for some an old joke;
But for you and me, it is
nothing less than the truth,
For it is God Almighty
who decreed, who spoke.
Armed with this
knowledge, let us face the New Year.
Of the many challenges
ahead – undaunted and unworried
For how could God’s true
servants be defeated by fear
When He, the Creator,
will provide what we need.
So, instead of wasting
our time in all things fleeting.
Let us obey God’s
commands, His call-urgently heed.
For when that final call
and dreadful day comes dawning –
This question will not be
about our wealth but what we did.
So as we all embark on
this year-long chapter of our journey,
Let us humbly bow our
heads and to our Maker, make a plea;
“In the Church of Christ,
Father, continue to deem us worthy,
And make us fully
obedient servants, worthy of the Holy City.”
